Governance Framework for Advanced Paediatric and Neonatal Practice
Kids’ Health Matters is pleased to announce the launch of a Governance Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice: Paediatrics and Neonates, written in collaboration with Improving Me (the Cheshire and Merseyside Women’s and Children’s Service Partnership.) This document has been more than a year in the crafting and is designed to support and structure the incredible new workforce in various stages of development across the region.
Specifically, Part 1 adapts the 2017 national Health Education England advanced clinical practice (ACP) capabilities to incorporate care for neonates, infants, children and young people. Part 2 operationalises and shares the learning from the widespread development of a paediatric and neonatal advanced practice workforce and explores the ‘wicked issues’ related to role development, implementation and support.
The Framework outlines a pathway for paediatric and neonatal ACP career development (from trainee to consultant level) and provides a model for organisational assessment of service-specific competencies.
Lastly, there are exemplar ACP job descriptions and person specifications (for trainees and credentialed ACPs). The career development pathway, sample assessment tool and sample job descriptions are also excerpted into their own accompanying word document in order to facilitate organisational implementation. You can view and download all three documents below.
